Well, finally I have something to say that isn’t so negative.
This past weekend Spracky and I went a wedding of a childhood friend of Spracky’s family.
The wedding was outside in the Oldest House in Saint Augustine. I thought I would burn up but the breeze came through the garden just enough to keep me cool, (Florida can be extremely hot in July).
I enjoyed meeting some of the people Spracky new as a child, but one of the highlights for me was a very pleasant surprise. The sister of the woman getting married has a sixteen year old daughter that sang and played piano during the wedding and the reception. At first I didn’t notice who was singing “Unforgettable” during the service, then Spracky told me it was the young lady singing, and I was very impressed.
She has a very soulful voice, that reminded me of Christina Aguilera. Now you can think what you want about Christina Aguilera, but when it comes down to it she has an amazing voice. During the recepetion this young lady went on to singing a couple more songs that really impressed me.
Later we found out from the young ladies mother that she is part of a band in the Sarasota area of Florida, they call themselves The Cherry Hill Project. They have a couple of songs that you can listen to on their website. The recordings don’t do the vocalist justice, but it is definitely worth listening to.
Make sure you give them a listen.

I just don’t know what is the matter with people anymore.
Spracky and I moved back to one of our favorite apartment complexes not to long ago due to our last aprtment’s structure was not condusive to sound dampening. We used to live at our current apartment because the structure is nicely built and you don’t even know that you have neighbors unless you go outside and see them.
So we moved to the second floor, which is the highest floor in the column that we live in. The day we moved in we heard (felt) some bass from downstairs right under where our office would be located. We thought it was the little teenager blarring their music until their parents got home. A couple days go by and we here (feel) the music again. Then the next day we here it in the living room area. We thought that that was a little odd, but after a while we noticed that either this kids parents were never home or his parents were playing the music loudly as well.
The next day I had had enough and went downstairs and knocked on the door, the music got quiet, but nobody answered the door. I figured my point was made.
The next day I hear the music again and I hear somebody playing a saxaphone. I go back downstairs and knock on the door, no answer, and the music does not get turned down. So I knock on the door again, and again, and again. Still no answer. I go back upstairs and start stomping on the floor(I know, not the most mature thing to do). The music gets LOUDER!!! Obviously this set me off. So I start jumping up and down, and the music gets louder. Spracky’s cats start hiding because I am banging so hard. I run downstairs again and bang on the door so loud the other neighbors come out to see what’s going on. Finally I here through the door a woman yell “Go Away!”. I yelled back “Turn down the music!”. Then she yelled something back that I couldn’t understand. So I called the cops. Right when the cops coming rolling up this lady comes running out and Spracky gets to the cop first and explains that we are at our wits-end.
The cop listens to us, then explains to the lady the problem and she said, and I quote from the police officer “I have lived here for two years and I will play the music as loud as I want”. The police officer explained to us that if she plays the music too loud after hours to call him and she will arrest her, otherwise it was a matter for the apartments.
A couple of days later the manager of the apartments and I finally meet up to discuss the problem, and luckily, the lady downstairs was home on vacation blarring her music. The manager talked to the lady and later spoke with me. The manager stated that the volume of the music was obnoxious. Also, I explained that the boy was playing his saxaphone. The manager was thinking the exact same thing I was, how would they feel if I start playing the drums. So the manager filed a disturbence against her. And the manager told me contact her the next time there is a problem and they will file the official “Seven Days to cure” notice, which means that if she does not shape up within seven days she will be evicted.
We just had another problem with the boy playing the saxaphone to loud, and we called the manager, and she said to call the police for now, and that she would take care of things when she gets back in the office.
What makes people think that they can just intrude on someone else’s lives. Spracky, nor I, can understand what makes someone think that they are allowed to do whatever they want to do, but, of course, that person would have a huge problem if we did the same thing back.
I’m not an overly religious person, if I could be considered a religious person at all, but I do remember one little golden rule—”Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Plain and simple way of life.

Today is Summer Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. Many cultures, current and ancient, worship this day.
One of my goals, since the first time I realized what Summer Solstice was, has always been to watch the sunrise and stay awake all day, and then watch the sunset. Unfortunately, I have never really had this opportunity, mostly because of work, or because it was raining, sunrises aren’t that spectacular when you can’t see it through the clouds, or because I had been to lazy to get up in the morning.
I personally see this day as the middle of the year, I know it’s not the exact middle of the year, but I see it like this, from this day to Winter Solstice, the daylight days will be getting shorter, kind of like a downhill affect.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s not as depressing as it sounds, I look forward to this day every year. This day reminds me that the fall(autumn) is right around the corner, and I really enjoy the fall in Florida, especially if it is an Indian Summer. The way the light looks in the mid-afternoon, the cool breeze sneaks in to let you know that winter might be coming this year, the smell of the flowers and trees not knowing if they should go dormant for the winter yet.
I still haven’t been able to check this off of my list of things to do before I die. I know this day is coming every year, but yet I don’t make proper arrangements to ensure that I finally have one less thing on my todo list. Maybe it’s because, subconsciously, if I start checking things off my list it means I am closer to dying.
So here’s to sunrises and sunsets on Summer Solstice…and staying alive another year.

Alright, here it goes…I am not a racist or bigot, but I will admit that I am becoming less tolerant of certain ethnic tones.
Spracky is half Cuban, her father was born in Cuba and his famiy basically lost all of their land to Castro and Che. When they came to America they had to jump through hoops and followed all of the red-tape that was thrown at them.
Fast-forward to today, there is this common understanding among the illegals that they beleive they deserve rights and a free pass. I don’t understand this. And I don’t understand why there are two languages on all of the food labels. If I were to go to a spanish speaking country I would expect not to see english on the labels.
If you want to be an American, go through the red-tape, get the foreign flags out of your windows, start speaking english, and start paying taxes. I am tired of seeing Puerto Rican flags hanging in car windows…isn’t Puerto Rico basically protected by the United States??? Show some appreciation, hang up the Stars and Stripes!
I understand that the U.S.A. is a melting pot, but I really think that people should show more support, or even admiration, for the United States. They thought this country was great enough for them to rush to to start their fortune, and to write another chapter in their heritage, then show it!
I was lucky enough that both of my parents were born and raised in the United States, and most people don’t realize that they have it really great here, but I’m not one of them. I really like the fact that I can write about how much I hate a particular cultural sterotype in this country, and I know that I wouldn’t be able to do that in too many other countries without some sort of persecution.

Let me tell you about my newest love, it’s called Kite Surfing. A little background, I am a Gen X, I freely admit it, and often am proud of it. Over the course of my life I have done a lot of surfing, skating, motorcycle stunting, etc… Now I have found this wonderful time-spender called kite surfing. I am in just the beginning stages, I have started using a practice kite, but soon I will be getting my lesson and rigging. I can’t wait!

Thirty-two years ago today I was born. So today I decided to begin this blog. I go by the name of Dax, for the most part. My wife Spracky will also be dropping in and blogging from time to time.
I plan on using this space for a record of…well, almost everything, from day to day grind to rants and raves and everything in between.
Feel free to comment as you wish, I would just prefer that there are no direct attacks on any of the other commentors.
