There is light at the end of the tunnel…but it’s glowing red

Have you ever had a vision for a project, work or home, and you put every ounce of energy you could into completing this project to make it the best result you could imagine, and once one other resource becomes involved you slowly watch your “masterpiece” turn into a cluster?

And after the initial cluster you accept that there is a different resource invloved, and you try to remember to compromise. Then something else happens to deminish the “greatness” of your project. And then again…and again…and again.

You start going through cycles: first of disbeleif, then of confusion due to the lack of workmanship by others, then to a minor blowup, then to utter disbeleif, then to an almost major blowup, then a small period of acceptence, then a huge blowup, follwed be a period of reflection as to which of the two paths you should should (fight or flight), then you reevaluate what is important, then a state of being deliriously accepting.

Things don’t ALWAYS have to be this way. Humility on each side can make everything go much smoother and much more productive.

If you have blood in your veins you WILL make a mistake.

The lesson here, when you aren’t happy with how others don’t see your vision, take another look at your vision and take a mental snapshot, that may be the only time you will ever see your vision again. ^_^

The more things change….the worse they get?

Posted on December 1st, 2009 by Dax.

So, as time has been moving along in certain situations, and updates are expected to make things “better”, things appear to be getting worse…or, at beat, overly complicated.

The exact situation cannot be expressed or explained in this medium. But the gist can be conveyed.

Ego’s getting in the way of excellence can easily be any humans mantra, or so it seems. Think of the early human who invented/created the wheel. How long do you think someone had that idea in their head before expressing it to their peers? Think about how much further along as a species we would be if we ALL “checked our egos at the door”?

I’m sure if you read between the lines of this post you can figure out what the exact situation is, but I’m attempting to convey a “big picture” message, I don’t want anyone to get lost in the details and form a specific opinion based on the players and places.

Just remember that we ALL are equal…no matter how much that sounds like a communist view…because we all are.

Morbid Curiosity

What is it about humans with regards to not being able to look away during a car accident, or the need to watch the tragic crash on the news over and over again?

I’m just as guilty as the next person.

Also, why do we as humans want to watch others fail, especially the cocky, the arrogant?

The reason that I present these two questions in the same post is due to last night I partook in both. I had a pretty strong feeling that someone of high arrogance was going to fail miserably last night, and when they did, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to look away.

Now, no one was physically hurt, and there was no way for anyone to get hurt, except for maybe a paper cut or a stiff neck from sitting in the same position for an extended period of time. So, nothing to morbid. But I knew that this individual was going to fail, and I’m talking about serious crash and burn type of failure.

Ther was nothing at all I could do. I didn’t have the authority to stop this eventual train wreck, but even if I did, this individual would not have heeded my warnings anyways, this I am certain of.

I don’t feel any guilt over the situation because it was completely out of my hands. But I do feel a little “happy” by the entire process ending up the way it did for the evening.

I have a pretty good feeling that this was a complete failure, but I also have a strong feeling that this failure will try to be spun into a “learning experience”, when, in reality, it was a loud siren of the inability of this individuals capabilities.

The lesson that should be learned from this experience for the arrogant is humility, but this will not be understood nor conveyed.

And the lesson that I would need to learn from this experience is….well, I imagine a little humility on my part as well. Hope that I learn my lesson before the other indiviual does…otherwise, I might just do a little “touchdown dance” next time I see them after their epic failure. ^_^

I guess this would be one of those posts that I should decipher the message/lesson instead of just typing it in and publishing it to the world.

Here we go again

Well, it looks like this will work, so let’s give it a go.

Currently, I’m trying to get over a cold, or cold like symptoms. I missed work yesterday…well, I wouldn’t say that I “missed” work, but you get the gist.

Back in the office with a renewed understanding why I go to work…for a paycheck, not to change the world.

Which leads me to my next thought…is there a specific age statistically when you just stop caring about trying to change the world with regards to work? Now, I’m not saying that doctors or care takers and the like stop caring, I’m talking about people that are cogs in the machine, and the machine is only hell bent on making money. I don’t see a percentage of the money that I save the machine…granted I get a check, which I agree is my main incentive. But, in theory, all I have to do is a better job than 70% of my immediate co-workers to retain my position, and in some cases, I can even increase my bill rate with that level of workmanship.

For the record, I don’t know how to “throttle back” my work, I can blame/thank my mother and father for that, so I’m not cheating my client out of money. But, am I being fair to myself by putting in the extra effort when Joe Schmoe down the hall is lazy as hell and doesn’t get disciplined about the lack of workmanship?

So, this is what’s on my mind today. Which, in it self is a waste of time to even publish because I have no plans, or know how, to do a lesser job.

Testing out blogging from my iPhone

This is a little test to try to setup blogging from my iPhone. I figured if I get this working that I might be a little bit more prone to updating more frequently. We’ll see.

PED3

Spracky and I just received our PED3 from http://thoughtout.biz for our iPhones, and these things are sweet. I love the clean lines and the solid black paint. One of the really cool features is the rubber protectors on each of the prongs that holds the iPhone in.

If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch I would definitely order one of these.

Been a long time since I rocked and rolled

I know it’s been a while since I posted, I apologize.

I have had to try to get creative with some of the T.V. shows I like to watch since Halo 3 came out, Spracky has pretty much had the T.V. for a little over a month now, I don’t blame her, she had to wait 18 months for the game to come out.

I have been downloading a lot of shows and movies, and trying to set up Automator, to no avail.

We were able to pick up the Family Pack of the new Leopard Mac OS X 10.5 and two free t-shirts.  It’s a pretty slick operating system.  I have only installed it on my Black Macbook and Spracky’s Macbook, I haven’t taken the leap to put it on the iMac yet.

Today is Halloween and this is the first time since Spracky I have been together that we have lived in a house during this holiday.  So we sat outside and passed out candy to the children in our neighborhood.  I imagine just a few years ago I would have thought that that was pretty lame, but it wasn’t that bad.  The children were so stoked that they were able to dress up in costumes and to a whole bunch of free candy.

I guess that’s it for now, I promise that I will try to post more often.

iPhone in my pocket

Well, thanks to Steve Job’s announcement on Wednesday September the 5th, 2007, I finally got an 8 GB iPhone, and it only took me 26 minutes to unlock it so I can use it for the internet and as an iPod, my contract with my current carrier won’t expire until the end of October and I don’t feel like paying the additional $200 to switch.

Here are a couple of pic’s of the basic “un-boxing”, Picture 1, Picture 2, Picture 3, Picture 4, and Picture 5.

So, technically I have an iPod Touch for the next month.

I had been holding out till Steve Job’s announcement because I was hoping that they were going to come out with a 16 GB iPhone, but no such luck.  I do admit that I believe this prediction.

Busy, Busy, Busy

We have been so busy the past couple of months, and it looks like we will be even busier for the next month or so.

Spracky’s GM is finally doing better and is under going physical therapy.

This blog had it’s one year anniversary on June 16th, which just so happens to be my 33rd birthday. And what else do you get for your 33rd birthday but an official Larry Bird jersey…number 33…get it???

Spracky and I had the chance to hang with Drew from the Dawn and Drew Show, and Showbiz Dad from Fireside Tales with Showbiz Dad in Gainesville. And of course we got to hang with Nick Starr, Ballroom Baby, and Tomit! You can check out some of the pictures here.

We recently got a treadmill so I can get into shape for surfing, and now I am about to run my first 5K race in two weeks. I won’t be “racing”, but I will be running. I don’t consider it a race if I know I have no chance of winning.

Spracky got an iPhone, spoiled brat!

I think that’s all I can tell you folks for now, there are a couple of really cool things that we have lined up for the next month, but we can’t tell you about it until after it happens…Sorry!
